Descripción

Shine, without the polish.

Nails go dull. Not damaged, just flat, and no amount of hand cream changes it. The Shiner carries a glow-boosting micro-coating that transfers onto the nail as you work, so a few light strokes leave the plate looking glazed. No polish, no gel, nothing to dry.

It works on bare nails at any point, straight out of the shower, at the end of a File Manicure, or whenever you want your hands to look finished without reaching for a bottle. It also doubles as a last pass over the cuticle, and it is the easiest way to work the Balm in.

If you already have the Kit, this is the finishing step, and the one people kept asking us to sell on its own. If you are new to Fyle, start with the Kit, which is the whole method. The Shiner adds the shine once the cuticle work is done.

Vegan and cruelty-free · No blades, no heat · Gentle on sensitive skin

What's inside
  • 1 × Shiner – fine-grade finishing buffer with the glow-boosting micro-coating.
  • Protective sleeve
How to use
  • On bare nails – a few light strokes across the nail plate, and stop as soon as it looks glazed.
  • For maximum shine – Shiner first, then the Balm on top.
  • For deep nourishment – Balm first, then buff it in with the Shiner.
  • Light pressure only. A little goes a long way.
FAQ

How long does the shine last?
Around two weeks, and you can top it up at any point with a few strokes.

Isn't buffing bad for nails?
This isn't a glass file and it isn't shaping anything. The shine comes from the coating it leaves behind rather than from taking a layer off, which is why light pressure is all it needs.

How is this different from an ordinary nail buffer?
An ordinary buffer works by abrading the surface until it shines, which is why the shine is shallow and why over-buffing thins the nail. The Shiner leaves a coating behind instead, so the shine is deeper, it lasts around two weeks, and light pressure is all it needs.

Is it already in the Kit?
It's in the Complete Kit. If you bought The Kit, this is the piece you don't have.

Initially felt it worked well for the cuticles but it has left a huge dint in my nails. Obviously this is from me pressing too hard but the instructions are not clear and it is a fiddly thing.

I haven’t used it again as don’t want the damage coming through and weakening the nail

Also don’t like how expensive the system is when you need to buy a whole new kit when it is already expensive. It feels like being fleeced for money.

The one thing I loved (and would have given 5 stars for) is the shinner. They are brilliant and I have purchased more.

Jess, thank you for being so honest, and thank you for the photos.

Let me clear up which tool does what, because it matters here.

The filing strips and the buff are only ever for the cuticle and the skin around it. They should never go onto the nail itself. The Shiner is the one tool that does work on the nail surface, but it's a few light passes only, never pressure in one place.

A dint like that comes from either a strip or buff going onto the nail, or the Shiner being worked hard in one spot. And if that distinction wasn't clear enough from what we gave you, that's on us. Written instructions are on the way.

The good news is that surface damage grows out with the nail rather than being permanent. Keep them fairly short while it grows, balm daily, and go back to using the strips and buff on the cuticle only.

On the refills, you're right that a whole new kit isn't the answer. Refill packs are the thing we're working on next.

Love the addition to the fyle system. Adds that extra bit of gloss to your now pristine nails!

Used to use a 'well known hand & nail brand' but these really are much better. This shiner leaves a glass-like finish on your nails. Love it!
