The buff from the Kit, double-sided.
This is the third step of the File Manicure on its own: the same fine 240 buff that finishes the Kit, with a working surface on both sides of a slim spine, in a pack of eighteen. It is for the skin around the nail, the cuticle line and the sidewalls, and not for the nail plate itself.
Most people keep one in a bag or by the sink for the week in between manicures. When the cuticle starts to come back, a few light strokes tidy it without a full session, and if you came to Fyle from nippers, this is what looks after the sidewalls that nippers used to catch.
The foam under the grit flexes as you work and spreads the pressure, so it smooths the skin without scratching it, and a dust-repellent coating keeps the surface from clogging, so each buff keeps working across several manicures. The pads lift off the spine and re-stick, so a worn side can be swapped for a fresh one.

How to use
- Step three of the File Manicure – after the Strip, two or three light passes along the cuticle line and down each sidewall.
- Between manicures – when skin starts to come back, a few strokes on the spots that need it.
- Toes – the same, and far easier than nippers somewhere you can't see well.
- Not on the nail plate. Keep it to the skin. For the nail itself, that's the Shiner.
- Light pressure. The foam does the work, not your hand.
FAQ
Are these the same as the buffs in the Kit?
Same grit, same finish. These have a face on both sides and their own spine, so they work without the Core.
How long does one buff last?
At home, several manicures.
Can I use it on the nail itself?
No. It's made for skin. For shine on the nail plate, use the Shiner.
Why not a cheap buffer from the chemist?
A standard buffer is built for the nail plate, so it is stiffer and coarser than skin wants. The foam in these gives against the skin instead of scraping it, and the grit is fine enough to use along the cuticle line without a mark.
