Care, not correction.
Fyle is a London nail and hand care brand and the home of the File Manicure™, a method that is changing the way people look after their hands and feet.
I started Fyle out of my own frustration.
Like so many people, I felt trapped in the salon cycle. An appointment gave me a couple of good days, which I'd stretch with oil ten times a day, and then the hangnails came back, the gel grew out or the polish chipped, and I was back to needing someone else to fix my hands.
Doing them myself wasn't much better, because most of what's sold for home is hard to use and does more harm than good, and who can actually manage nippers or scissors on themselves? Doing nothing didn't work either, as I'm not one of those lucky people who can skip it and still have neat hands.
I had some questions too. What was happening to my nails under the gel? Why did it feel so hot under the lamp? Why were my nail plates getting shorter? Were the little cuts and the bit of pain normal, and did I want an e-file going that deep?
Above all, did I actually enjoy any of it, or was it something I felt I ought to do?
And if we look after our own skin and hair ourselves, why should our nails be the one thing that leaves us dependent? I wanted hands that look neat all the time, with no waiting in between, and I wanted to be in charge of them.
It turned out I wasn't the only one: when I started asking the people around me how they felt about their hands, I was surprised how rarely anyone was happy with them, and how often I heard some version of "oh, they're awful right now", "don't look at my hands", "I'm just waiting for my next mani" or "I really need an appointment."
That's when I knew for certain that we need our hands back in our own hands, and that's where Fyle began.

The File Manicure™
It's everything a manicure needs and nothing it doesn't, simple enough for anyone and gentle enough for any skin.
The hardest part was distilling years of professional knowledge into one technique that works for someone with no experience, myself included, since I'm not a nail technician.
The disposable files attach to the Core in a way that keeps them flexible, so the edge gives before you can press too hard. There are no blades, machines or acids, and it's gentle enough that I use it on my five-year-old.
What we won't bend on.
Care over cover.
Skin, hair and even makeup have moved towards showing what's really there, while nail care is still about covering it up, and your hands and feet deserve care rather than cover.
Out of the cycle.
Look after your own hands between appointments or instead of them, on the evening that suits you rather than the slot that happens to be free. We're not against salons, only against the idea that you can't do this yourself.
Your hands, your choice.
Bare or polished, done yourself or by someone you trust. I'm not against salons or polish. I'm against the idea that caring for your own hands is something you can't do yourself.
I've struggled a lot with my cuticles, especially the side walls (hangnails, overcutting, hangnails, on and on), and the results from the kit were immediate. I'm really blown away and so thrilled. The system is excellent, and I'm so happy I found Fyle.
Honestly, it's a huge psychological relief. I haven't stop admiring my hands all day today, how unbothered and un-tortured they look, and only after only one treatment. It really made me feel lighter.
"…" I haven't been incentivized to write a review, and I hardly ever write reviews, I'm actually just that impressed.

Three questions people ask.
Is Fyle against polish?
Not at all. Fyle is the prep, so polish sits better on a nail that's been looked after, and bare nails look finished on their own.
Do I need any experience?
None. The kit was made for people who have never done their own nails, and the tutorial walks you through every step.
Does it work on feet too?
Yes. It's the same method on toenails, and at London Fashion Week every model had it on both.
